Finding Your Voice

It’s not easy finding your voice, even for someone like myself who is trained to speak and speak up. I can talk to my patients all day, but when it comes to finding my voice and sharing my principles or simply standing for what I believe in, I struggle. I struggle to find the right voice, the voice that will make others listen without ridicule, listen and pay attention to my message. And since public speaking is one of our biggest fear, I know I am not alone!!

So how do you overcome your biggest fear? By tackling it head on, at least so the expert say! See I’ve decided that my voice is important and what I have to say meaningful. If I can change one person’s life by speaking up then I should not remain silent. As a woman, a mother and a physician, I no longer have the luxury or privilege to stay quiet. From the events on Yale and Mizzou’s campus to Congress’s on going efforts to justify defunding Planned Parenthood, I am affected, we are affected and if we don’t speak up and take a stand then who will?

As the quote goes “Well-behaved women rarely make history!” so come make history with me. Speak up, write your congressman or woman, write a letter to the editor of a major newspaper, start a blog, champion a cause in other words do something to make our world a better place.

As I share my efforts with you, I want to see yours so send me your emails, pictures and let’s make some noise!
